Awareness Weekend

Glen Volunteered to do a Stroke information stand at the Dickens Centre over the Easter Weekend 10th - 13th April 2009.
This is his report:

There were over 3,000 visitors at the weekend, so publicity in promoting the Stroke Association was well received. This also gave the opportunity to meet some very interesting people. One lady I met works for the Stroke Association up in Stoke on Trent and another couple, "husband and wife," works on the 999 service call centre based in Hertfordshire. They have done their own F.A.S.T statistics and showed a 100% success rate in members of the public using the F.A.S.T technique. There were also plenty of nurses. The majority of people thought that the F.A.S.T campaign on the T.V. was very good although others felt it was a bit too much to see. (Guess they are blind to the fact it can and does happen). Also I met a lady that lost 2 members of her family to stroke and also a few other people that had lost a member of their family from a stroke.
Over all, a successful weekend, as I came home with only a handful of booklets. So a lot of information went out to members of the public, which is good.

I would also like to thank Lynn for helping me set up on Thursday evening and David for his time on Saturday and Denise on Sunday and Sharon & Dave for their time on Monday giving me a break for an hour or so.

We would like to thank Glen for giving up his Easter weekend and doing a great job manning the stand.
