Medway Stroke Club Meeting 28 February 2024

Bingo

Two little ducks, Kelly’s eye, legs eleven and sweet sixteen were all called during our ever popular 3 rounds of Bingo with a cash prize for each of the three full house winners and proceeds to the Stroke Club.  Robert, ex-professional caller, came out of retirement for the afternoon to assist.

Medway Stroke Club Meeting 24 January 2024

Escalado

An afternoon of Escalado put the fun into fundraising, providing great entertainment while boosting the Club’s coffers a bit. The winner of each of 5 heats went through to the final where Kate Winsalot (blue) surged through at the last to pip Kit Kat (green) at the post. After a promising start, Speedy Gonzales (yellow) went speedily in reverse and finished at the back of the pack behind David Hasselhoof (red) and Kitten Kong (orange). Jane did an amazing job of commentating on each race, although Brough Scott may feel secure in his role for the time-being.

Give a Hand and Bake October 2018

The month of October was busy for the Medway Stroke Club as it was Give a Hand and Bake. On the 4th October we had a cake sale which made £57.00 for the club. Then on the 18th October we had a return visit from Patricia Davy, who had given us a talk last year about her time as a cooking demonstrator with British Gas. This time we set her a challenge to do a cooking demonstration to show one handed cooking. Well we were truly impressed. Her task was to serve up 3 savoury dishes and a dessert in 1 1/2 hours. She cooked us tasty tomato pasta, a salmon dish and speedy biryani followed with a chilled lemon flan. After all the cooking it was time to sample all these delicious dishes. The verdict, well, it was absolutely lovely.

Make May Purple

Make May Purple has arrived for the Medway Stroke Club. We had our annual fundraising for the Stroke Association on the 11th May.  It was decided to have a purple afternoon tea party, with purple plates and purple serviettes.  On offer were little rolls and mini cakes, some had purple icing on them.  We also downloaded the make May Purple fundraising pack. We had fun doing the Make May Purple quiz. Ongoing is the purple picture sweepstake which is running throughout May. We also had a grand purple raffle with over 12 prizes. At the end of the afternoon we had raised over £200 for the Stroke Association.

Step out for Stroke – Capstone Park, Medway

Sunday 10 May 2015 – 11am

Step out for Stroke is a series of fun sponsored walks for the whole family. Everyone can Step out for Stroke, regardless of age or ability. Bring your friends, your kids or your neighbours – each event has a fabulous family-friendly atmosphere.

Walk your way

Most Step out for Stroke walks are about a mile long. You can walk at your own pace and in your own time. And whether you walk one step, 10 steps or the full mile, you’re helping us to support people who really need us. With Step out for Stroke you can set your own distance and we’ll help you to reach it.

Every step makes a difference

We’re the UK’s leading stroke charity, and we’re here for anyone affected by stroke. But we can’t currently reach everyone who needs us. We need your help to make sure none of the 1.2 million stroke survivors in the UK have to face their recovery alone.
